We had a week with several "firsts." I was invited to play Bunco for the first time with some friends. It was fun. I really enjoyed the game and the company. I also changed a tire by myself for the first time. We finished watching the first season of the TV series "24"

Makayla had some "firsts" this week. She started growling. She tried some baby cereal on a spoon and gagged. Maybe I'll make it a little thinner next time. (See video, don't mind me with the glasses and PJs). She also slept 10 hours straight!!!! She is now 5 months and is just as sweet as ever. Makayla is starting bite (mommy's favorite ha, ha) and still doesn't like to bear weight. Hopefully that will come soon.

Hey! I played Bunco for the first time this week, too! Makayla is such a cutie! Fun video of her trying her cereal. It takes a bit to get used to it. You're an awesome mom, Karen! Miss ya!

funny happenings

Makayla threw her food on the floor when she was done eating. I got after her about making a mess that we would have to clean up. She responded that "Bosco (the dog) clean up". True point.
Brynn: mama, mama, mama. Karen: ooohh. mama, mama, mama. Makayla: No, dada
I take the dog when I go for walks. Not necessarily because I like to, but because he likes to. He does well off-leash, and it is less bother for me to have to keep saying, "heel. Heel" So today and gentleman standing at the bus stop asked me as I passed him if I was new in Tempe. I responded, "no." He said, "dogs need to be on leashes or they will take them away." My response: "Well, I don't really like the dog anyway."
Makayla likes to tell people "excuse you" when they burp or toot. Her's sounds like 'scuse you ('scuse you daddy, 'scuse you mommy). Even when the dog burped, she said, 'scuse you, boy.
We hired a company called 2 Amigos landscaping to do some work around the house. Mark keeps calling them 3 Amigos instead.
Mark was having some chest pain, and was convinced he was having a heart attack and dying. He felt like he needed to tell people goodbye because he was dying. He said to Makayla: "tell daddy goodbye." Makayla, in her little happy voice, "goodbye daddy"
Mark: sorry I didn't help out much tonight. Karen: That's ok, I'll just take care of it tomorrow. Mark: oh, I was hoping you would say that I actually did help out a lot tonight
My 13 y/o female patient was in for a well check, and was complaining of some bumps on her upper inner thigh. As I examined her, she kept saying how weird it was to have someone touching her. Her grandmother and I kept reassuring her that this is what a physical is all about. She finally got fed up with it, so when the visit was almost over, and my assistant was about to give her an immunization, she said, "ya'll's nasty" and left the exam room, and out of the building.
I was bathing both girls, and I took Brynn to the other room to get her dressed, leaving Makayla in the bathtub. I was feeling nervous and called out to Makayla, "Are you ok?" she responded, "No."
Mark was sitting on the toilet, and left the door open. Makayla walked by and said "Nice, daddy"
Mark to Bosco, the dog: You know better than that. You are 4 years old, and in dog years that is 4 times 7, so you are 21 years old.
Mark: can I have those shoes? Karen: how much are they? Mark: less than $100. (note: they were $99)
